About mini movers
These classes are aimed for children 2 years and above. They are creative classes that allow the children to develop their basic motor skills. Children will be able to use props such as hoops, wands, ribbons and parachutes to encourage their creative exploration and express their ideas. Students will be taken on imaginative journeys to the seaside, the jungle and other fun adventures throughout their classes. These classes allow children to develop confidence, mobility, speech, memory and rhythm in progression towards the dance syllabus we offer.
Every class is a journey somewhere. One week the studio is the seaside, the next it is the jungle. Children explore movement in their own way rather than copying steps in a line, because at this age the skills that matter most are balance, coordination, rhythm and the confidence to have a go in front of other people.
Underneath the games there is real groundwork going on. Children learn to take turns, to follow an instruction, to wait for the music and to finish what they started, the things that make stepping up into Primary Ballet or Beginner Tap feel natural rather than daunting.
Parents often tell us the change they notice first is not the dancing. It is a child who will speak up in a group, who copes better with being dropped off, who comes home humming. For many of our families a Mini Movers class is a child's first regular activity away from home, and we take that seriously.
Our pre-school dance classes run at the studio on Brumby Wood Lane, which suits families across Scunthorpe, Brumby, Ashby and Bottesford. There is no uniform to buy before you start and no commitment on a first visit. Come and try a class, see whether your child takes to it, and decide afterwards.

Questions parents ask
What age can my child start Mini Movers?
Mini Movers is aimed at children of about 3 and above, though we take younger pre-schoolers who are ready to join in. There is no expectation that a child of this age can follow instructions perfectly. The class is built around that.
Can I stay and watch?
For the first class, yes, and for as long as your child needs you to. Most settle within a few weeks and are happier when parents wait outside, but we will never rush that.
Does my child need dance shoes or a uniform to start?
No. Come in comfortable clothes they can move in, with bare feet or socks. If they decide to carry on we will point you at what to buy, and never before.
What happens after Mini Movers?
Most children move into Primary Ballet, Beginner Tap or Beginner Ballet at around 5, when they are ready for a syllabus. We talk to you about timing rather than moving a child on by their birthday.
Can my child have a free trial class?
Absolutely. We offer one free trial class per new student, so your child can meet their teachers and classmates and see what Studio 7 is all about before committing to anything.
What should my child wear to their first class?
There is no need to buy uniform straight away. Something comfortable they can move freely in is absolutely fine. Once they have settled in, we will advise you on the correct Studio 7 uniform and dance shoes.
Where are your classes held?
All classes are at our studio at the British Red Cross Building, Brumby Wood Lane, Scunthorpe DN17 1AB. There is parking on site and families travel in from across North Lincolnshire.
How do I pay for classes?
Invoices are issued at the start of each term through your parent portal, covering the lessons in that block. You can pay by card online, by bank transfer, or in cash at the studio. If a dancer joins part-way through a term you are only charged for the lessons left.
