What age can my child start from?

Our classes begin from age 2+, introducing little ones to movement, music and dance in a fun, friendly and encouraging environment. At this age it is all about building confidence, developing coordination and discovering a love for dance, while learning to listen, take turns and become more independent in class. As they grow, students have the opportunity to progress through a wide range of dance and theatre styles, developing their technique, performance skills and creativity along the way.

Does my child need dance experience?

Not at all. We welcome complete beginners as well as children who have danced before. Whether your child is a toddler or a teenager, we will help find the most suitable class for their age and experience so they can learn, progress and enjoy themselves.

Can my child have a free trial class?

Absolutely. We offer one free trial class per new student. We want your child to feel happy and comfortable before committing to a class. A trial gives them the chance to meet their teachers and new classmates, join in with the class and see what Studio 7 is all about.

What should my child wear to their first class?

For their first session there is no need to purchase uniform straight away. Something comfortable that they can move freely in is absolutely fine. Once they have settled into their class, we can advise you on the correct Studio 7 uniform and dance shoes.

Can I sit in and watch the class?

We completely understand that you would love to see what your child gets up to. However, we find that our students are more focused, confident and independent when parents are not watching from the studio. It allows them to fully engage with their teacher, concentrate on their class and enjoy learning without any distractions. The only session we allow parents to watch is our Saturday Mini Movers session for 2 to 4 years. There are still plenty of opportunities to see their progress: throughout the year we have lots of performance opportunities including our annual showcase.

Can my child take part in more than one style of dance?

Definitely. Lots of our students take a combination of classes at Studio 7. We have classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Commercial, Musical Theatre and Acro. Trying different styles is a brilliant way to develop students into versatile, confident performers, and each genre offers students a chance to learn different techniques and skills.

Do students have to take exams?

No. Exams are a fantastic opportunity for students to work towards a goal and celebrate their individual progress, but we understand they are not for everybody. First and foremost, we want dance to remain an enjoyable and positive experience for each student. The TDSC exam board offers a range of examination and assessment options to suit every student. For those who may feel less confident or become overwhelmed in a traditional exam environment, there are alternative assessment options available, helping students to feel comfortable and at ease while still having the opportunity to celebrate their progress and achievements.

Do all students perform in the show?

Yes, everyone has the opportunity to perform in the showcase if they would like to. Our annual showcase is one of the highlights of our year. It gives our students the opportunity to perform for their families and show just how much they have achieved throughout the year.

My daughter has been attending Studio 7 for 3 years and absolutely adores it! It's a wonderful dance school and Miss Lauren is fantastic. Super friendly. My daughter wouldn't be any where near as confident as she is today without Studio 7

My daughter struggled recently with anxiety, she wouldn't leave my side without crying and being inconsolable. Since starting here with Miss Lauren and the other ladies her confidence has grown, she sleeps better, her whole attitude is so much better. Thank you for helping my daughter be her best self

Miss Lauren and her team have been fantastic in supporting my daughter to build her skills and self confidence. They go above and beyond to support and encourage pupils whatever their age or skill level. The ethos is friendly and encourages teamwork and friendship alongside dance and performing arts.
